Richie the Radio Guy Gets More Than He Bargained For
Richie is the friendly, neighbourhood radio producer. His trusty laptop that he uses for his work had a badly damaged screen, so I replaced the LCD and with its glossy finish made the good-looking, red laptop look neat and fresh. The great thing about these particular HP Pavilion laptops is they are dead easy to repair. The hardest part is removing the bezel around the outside of the screen without badly breaking it. It takes some time and patience, and a heat gun. Once I’d done that, the next job was to unscrew the LCD panel from the top casing of the laptop. I laid it gently down onto the keyboard, and removed the connector. It can be a bit delicate sometimes and is held in position with some strong adhesive tape. Then it was simply a matter of doing everything in reverse but with the new screen. I always buy the screens from the same place because they are always excellent quality, well packaged for transit, and arrive relatively quickly. One last thing I did remember to do before replacing the bezel was to remove the protective sheet that covers the panel.
